Police Quest was a lot of fun, at times a bit difficult to decipher the exact phrase that you needed to type-sometimes you would know what to do but couldn't think of exactly how to say it. I remember getting this for christmas a long time ago, and I spent almost all of christmas day playing it. Ok, so the quality took a steep dive after PQ2, but what the heck. If you've watched cop movies and TV series as a kid a lot, you'll love this one. You get to drive around in your patrol car, go through the daily police routine, stop cars, investigate traffic accidents and slowly but unavoidably are drawn into the plot of some mysterious drug lord trying to seize control of the small peaceful town you live and work in. The game has a kind of 70ish atmosphere to it, which is actually a good thing. One of the cool things about this game is the amazing feel of freedom you have while playing it - though the plot is quite linear it still feels as if it's up to you what to do next. Though Sierra never ceased to claim how realistic the game is, it's of course filled with all the cliches from cop movies and series - the officer falling in love with a hooker which was his high-school sweetheart, the daughter of the fellow officer getting an OD, the merciless diabolic gangster overlord behind it all. But really, who'd want to have to sift through dozens off different forms to write a proper report? Sign up with the academy or play Police Quest IV if you're into the boring parts of the job. People who want to have fun though, download this game. :) |
