OH MAN finally I found it! I've always had the music in my head but could not remember what the game was called or what it was about. Now I only need someone to sell me the original :D

I loved this colourful fantasy platformer, although the layered format gets a bit confusing & the controls weren't that great. I think I only ever found the Black Lamp once, so I was a long way off the end. This is a classic ST game but too hard & with too many baddies to smash.

You can download the game from Automation disk 10 (ftp://ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/pub/atari/games/Automation/A_010.ST). You can see Power Pack instructions from http://www.geocities.com/yotisrx7/PowerPack.html#BlackLamp.

I remember playing this game so much on the Atari ST computer back in 1989. I was six at that time and I didn't know exactly what to do except just going around and shooting all kinds of creatures. When I found the Atari ST emulation, I found this game and it brought me back a lot of memories of when I used to play it back when I was six. I played it a lot and I finally found out what you have to do. The object of this game is to collect all the different color lamps you need and return them to the case that has the different color lamps. After you have returned all the lamps, you'll move on to the next level. I was only able to make it to level 2 a few times. On level 2, I died after a few minutes and it was game over. This is a great Atari ST classic. Black Lamp can be found on Automation compact disk 10 and Lemmings compact disk 20.

This was in my Atari 520 Super Pack box along with loads of other games. Played loads, loved it - just hearing the music now brings 1989 back to me in no time. Bloody frustratingly unresponsive to the joystick sometimes..."no don't turn around, just go up the bloody ladder!"

One of my favourite platform games on the ST. Some of my mental pictures for the Discworld characters are straight out of this game (although the two are not related).

I really liked this one, loved the graphics. I never got past level 4 or so, though...
mandark wrote ...2001-11-08 19:41:14
actually you had to collect 9x9 (=81) lamps in different colors and bring them back one by one to play out the game. well, NEVER ENDING as Ant said it.. but a great cult classic also.

Really hard and strange fantasy game. I did find the black lamp, not that it did any good. And the red one......and the blue one......and the wand and the other wand.
